Journey of Nature: A Harmonious Blend of Design and Culture

Chao Yen Chen's design inspiration stems from the tranquility of nature, reflected in the exterior of the buildings. The combination of wire fence system and plastic lumber, known for its weather resistance, creates a visually appealing facade. The inclusion of waterproof ball-shaped lights mimics the image of a shallow water pond, enhancing the atmosphere during nighttime. The logo of the construction company, designed to create a fun atmosphere for children, serves as a symbol of spiritual support.

The 'Journey of Nature' is not just a reception center. It's a cultural hub, featuring three model houses built in the styles of contemporary humanities and cultures, a modern flat, and contemporary neoclassical architecture. The integrated space includes a meeting area, a model engineering building, a coffee table area, VIP rooms, model houses, a parent-child playground area, and a demonstration of a shallow water well. This layout exudes a luxurious atmosphere of leisure in the rural area.

The unique properties of the design are brought to life through the use of varied construction materials. Stone balls, vermiculite, Apollo gray-colored marble tiles, unsmooth and blackened steel pieces processed by magnetic technology, and natural Qiuxiang timber bark are layered to create an extraordinary quality. This 2426 square meter property is a testament to the designer's ability to blend form and function seamlessly.

The design interaction is another aspect that sets the 'Journey of Nature' apart. A custom-made themed chandelier for the white ultra-high ceilings and the tea bar opposite from the entrance provide a visual welcome. The vision is guided to the small private room, where the meeting room inside is with an outdoor water landscape that gives a sense of leisure and interaction with sunlight. In the parent-child playground, the high-ceilings and a shaped chandelier cast shadows and reflection to the walls and the ground, adding a sense of depth.

Completed in September 2019, the 'Journey of Nature' is located in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. The design research underlying this project focused on creating a space that would calm weary and restless souls and minds, offering a respite from the hustle and bustle of city life. The slow-flowing water in the shallow pond is a gift from nature, and the long hallway made with wood-plastic composites (WPC) allows users to bathe in the sun and breathe in refreshing air.

The 'Journey of Nature' is a testament to Chao Yen Chen's design prowess and his ability to create spaces that are not just functional, but also aesthetically pleasing and culturally significant. The Silver A' Design Award is a recognition of this remarkable design that showcases a remarkable level of excellence and introduces positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
